The Contracts page is a list of the contracts your organization holds, with the date each one comes up for re-compete. It helps you start on a re-compete before it arrives. It holds only what your team types in. It does not read federal award data, and it is separate from the Contracts tab on Federal Opportunities.
What the Contracts page shows
The page is not in the sidebar. Open it at /dashboard/contracts. Everyone in your organization sees the same list.
The page has up to four parts:
- Add Contract, at the top right, opens the form for a new contract.
- Upcoming Re-competes appears when any contract's re-compete date is 90 days away or less. Each line shows the contract title, the client and "N days until re-compete".
- Competitive Intelligence appears when your organization has recorded competitors on won or lost proposals. It is described below.
- The contract list. Each card shows the title, a status badge, the client, the contract value and the end date.
On the right of each card, "Nd to re-compete" counts the days until the re-compete date. It turns amber at 60 days or fewer and red at 30 or fewer. A card with no re-compete date, or one already past, shows no countdown. A contract with the completed status shows Completed instead.
When the list is empty, the page reads "No contracts yet". Nobody in your organization has added a contract.
Using it
To add a contract:
- Open /dashboard/contracts.
- Select Add Contract. The New Contract form opens.
- Enter a Title. It is the only required field.
- Fill in what you know: Client Name, Agency Name, Contract Number, NAICS Code, Contract Value ($), Start Date, End Date, Re-compete Date, Contract Type and Notes.
- Select Create Contract. The form closes and the contract appears in the list.
Select Cancel to close the form without saving.
Some things to know:
- Only users with the super admin, admin, manager or proposal lead role can add contracts. For anyone else, Create Contract does nothing and the form stays open, with no error message.
- Every new contract starts with the active status.
- The page has no way to edit or delete a contract once it is added. Check the dates before you save.
- Both the alert and the countdown use Re-compete Date, not End Date. A contract with only an end date never appears in Upcoming Re-competes. Enter the date the agency is expected to recompete, which is often months before the contract ends.
- The countdown uses your computer's clock and rounds part days up.
Reading the Competitive Intelligence summary
The summary is built from your organization's proposals whose outcome is recorded as won or lost and that name a competitor. It reads "N competitors tracked and X% win rate", then shows cards for three competitors, taken from your most recently updated proposals.
- "Competitors tracked" counts the distinct competitor names on those proposals. Names must match exactly, so "Acme" and "Acme Inc" count as two competitors.
- The win rate is the share of those proposals that you won. It counts only proposals with a competitor recorded, so it is not your organization's overall win rate. It is also shown for any number of proposals, even one or two, so a small sample can give an extreme figure.
- Each competitor card shows how many proposals named that competitor ("encounters"), how many of those you won and lost, and your win rate against them.
When you record a lost proposal, the outcome form asks for the Competitor Name, meaning who won. It does not ask when you record a win. So most proposals in this summary are usually losses, and the win rate here is usually much lower than your real one. Use the summary to see who beats you. For your organization's win rate, see Win/loss analysis.
To look at contracts that are ending across the whole government, not only your own, use the recompete calendar.
