Finding federal opportunities

5 min readLast updated: Sep 23, 2026

Each tab on Federal Opportunities has its own search and filters, to narrow federal records down to the agencies, notices and awards that fit your business.

Search and filter

Open Federal Opportunities in the sidebar, then pick a tab. On the Contracts, Opportunities, Programs and Grant Forecasts tabs, lists show 20 records per page, and changing a filter returns you to the first page.

Budget Trends

  • Type in Search agencies... to narrow the table by agency name.
  • Pick an industry preset: All Industries, IT Services, Engineering, Consulting, Construction or R&D / Scientific. Each covers a fixed set of NAICS codes.
  • Pick a signal: All Signals, Pursue (Increasing), Evaluate (Stable) or Caution (Decreasing).
  • Select Refresh to reload the figures.
  • Select an agency row to see its spending broken down by NAICS code.

The signal compares the agency's contract spending in the last full fiscal year with the year before. Pursue means it rose more than 10%, or the agency is new in the data. Caution means it fell more than 10%. Evaluate means it moved less. A stable agency also shows Pursue when it plans over $10M of development and modernization spending in the budget year, or that planned spending grows over 10%. The signal describes spending, not your chances of winning.

CY Pace is the share of last year's spending already obligated this fiscal year, so it is low early in the year. DME Growth is the change in planned development and modernization spending, from the Federal IT Dashboard. Only agencies with more than $1M in spending are listed. N/A means a year has no spending on record or the agency has no planned budget data.

Contracts

  • Type in Search contracts... to search recipient names, descriptions and agencies.
  • Pick a NAICS code. The list offers All NAICS plus six IT and consulting codes, starting with 541512 - Computer Systems Design.
  • Pick an award type: All Award Types, BPA, Definitive Contract, Purchase Order or Delivery Order.

Opportunities

The tab shows only notices marked active whose response deadline has not passed.

  • Type in Search opportunities... to search titles, descriptions and agency names.
  • Pick a notice type: All Types, Solicitation, Presolicitation, Combined Synopsis, Sources Sought, Special Notice or Intent to Bundle.
  • Pick a NAICS code from the same six codes as the Contracts tab.
  • Pick a set-aside: All Set-Asides, Small Business, 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB or WOSB.

Under each deadline, the row shows the days remaining, or "Today". The count turns orange at seven days or fewer. The external link icon in the Link column opens the notice on SAM.gov. Track as RFP starts an RFP from the notice, as Tracking an opportunity as an RFP explains.

Programs and Grant Forecasts each have one search box, Search programs... and Search grant forecasts.... A grant forecast with no posting date yet shows TBD in Est. Post Date.

An empty list with no filters set asks you to run a data sync: nothing has been loaded for that tab yet. Ask an admin to run it, as Federal Opportunities explains.

Save to your watchlist

The watchlist keeps federal IT investments and programs you follow. It is yours alone: teammates do not see it.

  1. Open the investment or program page. Program pages open from the Programs tab. Investment pages are at /dashboard/pipeline/ followed by the investment's UII.
  2. On an investment page, select Watchlist; it changes to Watchlisted. On a program page, select Watch; it changes to Unwatch.
  3. Select the button again to stop watching.

Each entry stores the item, a priority (Medium at first) and optional notes.

Browse government RFPs

Browse Government RFPs searches a separate opportunity feed by keyword. It is not in the sidebar: open /dashboard/government-rfps, or choose Browse Gov RFPs in the search dialog.

  1. Type keywords in Search Keywords.
  2. Select Search.
  3. Select Save Search to keep the query. It appears under Saved Searches, where Run repeats it and Delete removes it.

The page opens on your first active saved search, or a default construction query. Daily Digest shows the last day's matches for up to two saved searches, three results each, with Import to RFP on each.

Each result has three actions:

  • Import opens Upload New RFP with the title, agency, deadline and estimated value filled in.
  • View opens the notice at its source.
  • Auto Draft scores the notice. Unless the score is below 45, it creates an RFP and a proposal with placeholder sections, then opens the proposal.

The Auto Draft score starts at 50 and moves with the notice's detail, whether it states a value, the time to the deadline, and whether it matches one of your business lines. It is a triage score, not a win probability. 70 or more reads GO, and 45 to 69 reads REVIEW.

Super admins also see Import Latest, which loads new SAM.gov notices into the feed once they have MFA turned on.
