What Are Business Lines?

Business lines let you organize your organization by service area, department, or business unit. This helps:

  • Filter relevant assets for proposals
  • Assign proposals to the right team
  • Track performance by business area
  • Maintain separate branding/messaging

Common Business Line Examples

  • IT Consulting vs Management Consulting
  • Engineering vs Environmental Services
  • Commercial vs Government
  • North America vs Europe

Setting Up Business Lines

Creating Business Lines

  1. Go to Business Lines in the sidebar
  2. Click Add Business Line
  3. Enter name and description
  4. Add optional details:
    • Logo
    • Primary contact
    • Default template
  5. Save

Business Line Details

Configure each business line with:

  • Name - Display name
  • Description - What this line does
  • Color - For visual identification
  • Lead - Primary responsible person
  • Default template - For new proposals

Associating Assets

When Uploading

  1. During asset upload
  2. Select business line(s)
  3. Asset is associated

Existing Assets

  1. Open the asset
  2. Click Edit
  3. Select business line(s)
  4. Save

Bulk Assignment

  1. Select multiple assets
  2. Click Bulk Edit
  3. Assign to business line(s)
  4. Apply changes

Using Business Lines

Filtering Assets

In the asset library:

  1. Click the filter icon
  2. Select business line
  3. See only relevant assets

Creating Proposals

When creating proposals:

  1. Select the business line
  2. Only relevant assets are suggested
  3. Appropriate templates are offered

Team Assignment

Business lines can have:

  • Assigned team members
  • Default reviewers
  • Approval workflows

Business Line Profiles

Auto-Generated Profiles

Propivix can generate a profile for each business line:

  1. Go to Business Lines
  2. Select a line
  3. Click Generate Profile
  4. AI creates overview based on assets

Profile Content

Generated profiles include:

  • Summary of capabilities
  • Key service areas
  • Notable projects
  • Team expertise

Use these in proposals or marketing.

Reporting by Business Line

Analytics

Track performance per business line:

  • Win rate
  • Proposal volume
  • Revenue
  • Common clients

Dashboards

Filter the dashboard by business line to see:

  • Active RFPs
  • Proposals in progress
  • Recent outcomes

Best Practices

  1. Keep it simple - Don't over-segment
  2. Be consistent - Use across all assets
  3. Review regularly - Adjust as business evolves
  4. Assign assets promptly - Don't leave unassigned
  5. Use for filtering - Leverage in proposal creation

Multi-Line Assets

Some assets span multiple business lines:

  • Company-wide boilerplate
  • Executive CVs
  • Shared certifications

These can be assigned to multiple lines or left unassigned (available to all).

Managing Growth

As your organization grows:

  • Add new business lines as needed
  • Archive inactive lines
  • Merge lines if consolidated
  • Maintain clean organization
